Me and Gerhard want to use Whatsapp, Kik, Snapchat, Line or some other chat app to tell you stories about art that we have created. But we also want to get to know you.
Bots are invading your chat app. Facebook Messenger, Slack, Kik and other chat services (will soon) have lots of “users” that are really programs. You send them messages and a mix of programming, artificial intelligence and humans will reply. Technocrats (including myself) envision a future where we do not use separate apps to buy stuff, understand the world or date. Instead we use a general purpose chat app or service such as Siri to get stuff done.
And I understand this desire from tech companies. Chat apps, be it Facebook Messenger, Line or Kik, are where we create and cultivate deep personal connections to other persons. For example, my relations to my sisters are more profound thanks to Messenger. Of course Coca-Cola want that same level of engagement. And so they want to invade chat apps. As if the medium itself is the foundation of the relationship…
“So I had a really bad day at work and totally forgot about this. When I opened this message I got really surprised and felt happy! A bit of color was what I needed!”
Me and my friend Gerhard have been creating art for the past few years. Gerhard does Swarovski crystal bedazzled paintings. Together with a third friend, Cilla, a tree is taking shape. Performance videos about shitty politics, fashion victims and pretty flowers are also in production.
“!!!!!!!!! ❤️ ❤️ ❤️”
Now we are starting to let our friends (and their friends) know what we have been working on – we let you peak into our pink space. We use chat apps like Whatsapp, Kik and Facebook Messenger to tell our story.
In some ways we do the same thing that 1-800-Flowers does in Facebook Messenger – we have a script for the messages and we use the intimacy of chat apps to elicit a relationship.
“I am having a royal headache 😢 “
However, when you connect to us, you chat with real persons. We have created art that we hope will touch your heart and make you think about your world. If that happens, we hope that you tell us. We want you to know our art. But we also want to get to know you.
Connect to us on Whatsapp, Line etc on phone number +46 70 412 62 64 or send us a friend request on Facebook.
“Miauu! Beware, lots of loose dogs in town tonight.”
